Marc Gonsalves is an American who was held hostage by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) from February thirteenth, 2003 to July 2nd, 2008. A former imagery analyst within the U.S. Air Power, Marc was working as a civilian army contractor on a drug surveillance mission in Colombia when his single-engine aircraft crashed within the jungle. Upon being swiftly captured by the FARC, Marc would go on to reside as an energetic hostage alongside fellow contractors Tom Howes and Keith Stansell for the following 5 years.
In July 0f 2008, Marc, Tom, and Keith can be rescued in Operation Jaque by the Colombian Safety Forces. For his or her ordeal, all three males have been awarded the Secretary of Protection Medal for the Protection of Freedom on March twelfth, 2009. Since then, Marc has co-written the ebook ‘Out of Captivity: Surviving 1,967 Days within the Colombian Jungle’ with Tom and Keith, detailing their experiences as hostages.
