Assertion by Minister of Nationwide Defence on passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

“I be a part of Canadians in mourning profoundly the lack of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada and Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Her Majesty The Queen had a deep and significant relationship with our nation’s navy, whose members admired her selfless management.

Throughout her 22 official visits to Canada, Her Majesty The Queen reaffirmed her shut relationship with a number of Canadian navy items, in addition to quite a few Regiments and Branches that bear Royal designations.

With the grace and steadfastness that characterised her many years on the throne, The Queen stood with our Armed Forces as they navigated difficult post-war operations in Canada and overseas.

On behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Division of Nationwide Defence, I prolong our most honest and heartfelt condolences to members of the Royal Household.”
