A half-dozen fireplace departments battled a fast-moving blaze that erupted at a home within the city of Dickinson.
Authorities mentioned the two-alarm fireplace at 40 Sundown Drive was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Thick black smoke rising from the blaze was to passing drivers on Route 17, simply south of the fireplace scene. Flames had been capturing from the brick construction when the primary fireplace models arrived on the scene.

An ambulance from the Broome Volunteer Emergency Squad stood by on the scene. Investigators from the Broome County Workplace of Emergency Providers additionally responded to the fireplace.
