A battalion commander is forbidding troopers underneath his command from sporting their Army-issued fleece jackets whereas on a rotation in South Korea, the place native common temperatures in the course of the winter often dip beneath freezing.

The opposite regulation referenced within the memo was a paragraph out of the Army’s regulatory tips on uniforms which supplies commanders broad authority on dictating what troops can put on, “Troopers could put on the [cold weather] jackets and trousers as outer clothes, to incorporate the fleece jacket, when approved by the commander.”
It isn’t the primary time a debate over the fleece has popped up, as questions sporadically floor about whether or not the jacket is primarily meant to be an undergarment worn underneath different chilly climate gear. Although Army guidelines make it clear the jacket will be worn as an outer garment and are in any other case usually free on when and the place troops can put on it.
A high Army official overseeing uniform guidelines squashed any of that confusion again in January.
