An F-4 Phantom pilot and Vietnam veteran, Capt Jerry Geller, is our visitor for Ep. 012 of the Former Motion Guys Podcast.

Recruited from school, Jerry joined the Marine Corps via the cadet program and started his flight coaching in Pensacola, FL. He positioned himself to be accepted into the jets coaching pipeline and finally made it to VMFA-122 out of El Toro, California.

At VMFA-122 Jerry honed the pilot abilities he would wish in Vietnam like shut air assist (CAS), air-to-air fight, and deep air assist (DAS). As soon as he was totally certified, Jerry was despatched to Vietnam to fly with VMFA-542 out of Chu Lai. 1967 was an lively time in Vietnam and Jerry participated in a number of fight sorties that ranged from offering CAS to troops participating enemy forces together with the protection of Khe Sanh.

The latter mission is how Jerry ended up bbeing shot down by enemy forces. Fortunately, Jerry survived and is ready to recall that have and among the follow-on actions for our listeners.
