First feminine B-52 squadron commander takes cost

The Air Pressure has formally welcomed its first feminine B-52 squadron commander at Barksdale Air Pressure Base in Louisiana.

Lt. Col. Vanessa Wilcox took command of the 96th Bomb Squadron, 2nd Operations Group, on April 21.

“I’m humbled and grateful for the chance to guide this historic squadron,” Lt. Col Willcox informed the Shreveport Occasions. “I’m proud to serve alongside the women and men of the 96th BS to construct upon a legacy left by so many nice Airmen over its 105-year tenure. – First to bomb!”

Wilcox is a B-52H Weapon Techniques Officer and most just lately served because the deputy group commander for the 2nd Mission Help Group and director of operations for the twentieth Bomb Squadron.

She has deployed a number of occasions to the Pacific space of operations.

Wilcox assumed command from outgoing Lt. Col. Christopher Duff.
