Fishburne Navy Faculty to take part in George Washington’s birthday parade

Fishburne Navy Faculty will be a part of the march to honor George Washington’s 290th birthday in Previous City Alexandria on Monday.

The parade is free to the general public. It begins at 1 p.m.

Interim Superintendent Nicole Overton describes how the cadets’ participation goes past marching in a enjoyable parade.

“Washington is the daddy of our nation. He continues to be studied by students and army leaders for his management skill and his ethical conscience. He epitomizes our faculty mission of growing Management for Life,” Overton mentioned.

FMS has participated within the parade for greater than 25 years. Every year the senior cadets, coloration guard, band, drill and exhibition groups look ahead to an academic subject journey to Washington’s hometown. It is a chance for the cadets to be taught outdoors of the classroom and honor the primary American president in historical past.

FMS Senior Army Teacher Lt. Col. Christopher Wingate displays on the values he hopes the cadets will take away from the occasion.

Dedication and management led the cadets to victory in earlier George Washington Birthday Parade performances. In 2019, FMS obtained prime honors within the Navy Units and Drill Groups class, and a second-place award within the class of Youth Bands.
