HMS Mersey Heads To The Caribbean



HMS Mersey left Portsmouth harbour this morning, to start a seven month deployment to the North Atlantic.

Households and pals gathered at Portsmouth’s Spherical Tower, on the entrance to the harbour to wave off the river class offshore patrol vessel and their family members serving aboard.

The ship will present safety and assurance to the UK’s abroad territories within the Caribbean and perform counter-narcotics patrols as a part of the worldwide effort to discourage drug smuggling at sea.

Her crew may even be on standby for catastrophe reduction operations and is nicely skilled and outfitted for the position – carrying emergency reduction shops, a health care provider and medical crew on board.

The ship has the capability to make ten tonnes of recent water per day and may embark transport containers of assist and tools if required.
