Jap Iowa honors those that served within the armed forces on Veterans Day


CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Folks throughout the nation, and in jap Iowa, will honor those that have served within the armed forces on Friday.

Veterans Day is well known yearly on November 11, the anniversary of the tip of World Warfare I, greater than a century in the past. It started as Armistice Day.

President Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation in 1919. In 1954, it grew to become Veterans Day.

To honor those that’ve served, Hy-Vee is internet hosting its annual free breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Hy-Vee will serve veterans, army members and their households a free breakfast.They may even get a reduction on grocery purchases.

In Dubuque, the American Legion will host a Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the Dubuque Ice Area on Chaplain Schmitt Island.

All tri-state veterans’ organizations and army models are invited to take part. The occasion will characteristic a number of native audio system, music, and a luncheon afterwards.

In Waterloo, the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum will commemorate the eightieth anniversary of the sinking of the USS Juneau.

The museum may have a program at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Veterans and energetic obligation members will obtain free admission.
