Migrants Handled For Smoke Inhalation After Hearth In Cyprus



A number of migrants have been handled for smoke inhalation after a hearth at a camp close to Dhekelia Garrison in Cyprus.

Greater than 100 migrants are being housed in a brief transit facility throughout the Sovereign Base Areas after they landed at RAF Akrotiri almost a fortnight in the past.

A spokesman for the Sovereign Base Areas confirmed a small hearth broke out round 10am and it was shortly extinguished.

A number of individuals have been handled for smoke inhalation and SBA authorities stated there have been no severe accidents.

Akrotiri is Britain’s key army facility on the island and has been for the previous 60 years.

Constructed to alleviate strain on the then RAF Nicosia, which is now utilized by the UN Peacekeeping mission.
