Navy Investigating Gasoline/Water Launch at Purple Hill > United States Navy > News-Tales

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii – The Navy is investigating a launch of not more than 30 gallons of a water and gasoline combination within the neighborhood of tanks 13 and 14 within the Purple Hill Bulk Gasoline Storage Facility. The discharge occurred at roughly 12:11 p.m. on Friday, April 1 and was stopped shortly after. Response groups have accomplished restoration efforts.

Dewatering work was being performed on the time. This periodic upkeep removes water from gasoline tanks holding gasoline. All dewatering upkeep has stopped.

The Navy notified the Hawaii Division of Well being (DOH) and EPA of the spill. DOH was on scene following the cleanup.

The Purple Hill properly stays secured, and the Navy continues to observe consuming water.
