Russia says it prevented Ukrainian assault on Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant


LONDON, Nov 3 (Reuters) – A senior Russian official mentioned on Thursday that Russia had prevented a Ukrainian assault on the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear energy plant in southern Ukraine.

Repeated shelling of the plant has raised the opportunity of a grave accident simply 500 km (300 miles) from the location of the world’s worst nuclear accident, the 1986 Chornobyl catastrophe.
