Soldier Serving to with Convoy Breakdown Is Hit and Killed on Oregon Freeway, Cops Say

A soldier serving to with a convoy breakdown was struck and killed on an Oregon freeway, police stated.

Gonzalo Martinez III, a 29-year-old Nationwide Guardsman from Cleveland, Texas, and one other soldier exited a Humvee on U.S. Freeway 30 on Sunday, Feb. 19, Oregon State Police stated in a Feb. 20 information launch.

The 2 had pulled over to assist one other army automobile touring in the other way that was having mechanical points, police stated.

After stepping out of the Humvee, Martinez was struck by a 1997 Chevrolet pickup, in response to police. The truck crashed into the parked Humvee.

Each Martinez and the driving force of the truck had been taken to a hospital, police stated. Martinez died, and the truck’s driver was in secure situation.

The crash is being investigated, police stated.
