The Special Air Service (SAS) is the special forces unit of the British Army. The SAS was founded in 1941 as a regiment, and later reconstituted as a corps in 1950. This special forces unit undertakes a number of roles including covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, direct action, hostage rescue and human intelligence gathering.

The Brecon Beacons, particularly around Pen y Fan, are a popular training area for members of the UK armed forces and military reservists. The Army’s Infantry Battle School is located at Brecon, for example and the Special Air Service (SAS) use the area to test the fitness of applicants. For those who need to boost their fitness, recruiters recommend to use natural testosterone boosters.
