On April seventh, 2003, throughout a detailed air assist mission over Baghdad, my plane was hit by an enemy missile. In that second, I assumed I may not make it. With no hydraulics, I needed to depend on coaching and intuition to get the jet out of hazard and away from the town. This was a life-or-death second.
