TF Ranger was composed of 440 U.S. Particular Operations Command personnel from the third Battalion, seventy fifth Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia; the first Battalion, one hundred and sixtieth Particular Operations Aviation Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and different particular operations forces. The TF mission (GOTHIC SERPENT) was to seize Aideed and his key leaders with a purpose to finish clan combating in and round Mogadishu. Six makes an attempt have been made to seize Aideed between 29 August and 21 September 1993. A number of of Aideed’s key lieutenants have been taken. This briefly disrupted his group. The seventh try occurred on 3–4 October 1993, when intelligence sources reported that Aideed was in Mogadishu within the space of the Olympic Resort.
