‘Sacred soil’ dug from First World Battle battlefields in Belgium has arrived in London forward of its internment in a memorial backyard.
It arrived on a Belgian Navy frigate that docked alongside HMS Belfast within the Thames. The soil would be the focus of the Wellington Barracks backyard to mark the a hundredth anniversary of the beginning of the First World Battle.
