Meet The Royal Navy’s Fishery Safety Squadron



Forces TV has been given distinctive entry to the Royal Navy’s Fishery Safety mission.

Our reporter, Rebecca Ricks, hung out on board HMS Severn as she policed the fishery limits of England, Wales and Northern Eire.

The Fishery Safety Squadron has duty for 80,000 sq. miles of sea and the duty is fulfilled by three River Class Patrol Vessels.

The Squadron is the oldest frontline squadron within the Royal Navy and protects the tons of of hundreds of tons of fish landed by the UK fleet price virtually £700 million.

The Squadron additionally has secondary duties which embody Maritime counter-terrorism, counter-drug surveillance and air pollution management.
